Roller Conveyor Systems and Integration

Sized to the load, so the line keeps moving instead of backing up.

Roller conveyor moves most of the boxes, totes and pallets in industry — and it fails in predictable ways when the roller centers, bearings or drive style were never matched to the load. Conveyability specifies gravity, live roller, chain-driven and MDR conveyor around your product, rates and environment, then fabricates, installs and supports it as one team.

Zone-controlled MDR where accumulation and quiet, safe operation pay for themselves.

Gravity where it works, power where it counts.

Four Ways to Drive a Roller Line — and When Each One Is Right

The drive style is the real specification decision. Get it right and the line runs quiet, accumulates cleanly and sips power.

Gravity

No power, no controls, no maintenance beyond the rollers themselves. Right for pick lines, staging and any run where the floor or an operator can provide the push.

Live roller

Belt- or line-shaft-driven rollers for steady transport of cartons and totes. Adjustable spacing leaves room for sensors, scales and accessories along the line.

CDLR

Chain-driven live roller for pallets, drums and heavy unit loads. The heavy-duty answer when product weight would flatten a standard roller line.

MDR / 24V

Motor-driven roller zones that run only when product is present — quiet, safe, energy-efficient, and the cleanest way to get zero-pressure accumulation.

Most roller conveyor trouble was designed in on day one.

Jams, Flat Spots and Stalled Boxes Are Specification Problems.

Product hanging up at a transfer, rollers flattening under a load they were never rated for, light boxes stalling on a worn belt — these read like maintenance problems, but they usually trace back to roller centers, bearing class or drive style. Conveyability starts with the product and the cases per hour, then picks the conveyor — not the other way around.

Zero-pressure zones protect the product and the people.

Accumulation Without the Crush.

Queuing product ahead of a machine is where roller conveyor earns its keep — and where line pressure crushes cases and pins hands. Zone-controlled MDR and sensor-driven accumulation let product close up gently and release one at a time, matched to the downstream process.

Conveyability: Your First Call When the Boxes Stop Rolling.

One team for the rollers, the controls and everything between.

One team of top-tier problem solvers.

Start with what failed and what production is experiencing — not just the replacement part.

Speed, responsiveness and lead-time flexibility.

Service has to fit the urgency, shutdown window and reality of the operating plant.

Value engineering inside the real budget.

Repair what is worth repairing, modify what is causing the problem and upgrade only where the system has truly outgrown the old answer.

Custom plans built around the plant you have.

Legacy equipment, multiple manufacturers and incomplete drawings are normal inputs.

No passing the buck when the interfaces get messy.

Mechanical, controls, fabrication, installation and future support stay connected through one team.

Get Our Conveyor Maintenance Checklist: Catch the Wear Before It Costs You a Shift.

Rollers, bearings and drive chain wear quietly for weeks before a line goes down. The checklist covers what to look at weekly, monthly and quarterly.

  • What to check and how often to check it.
  • How to spot early signs
  • Print once, coverage all quarter.

Roller Conveyor FAQs

Loads, accumulation, lead times and mixing drive styles.

How do I know whether gravity is enough?

Weight, package bottom and elevation decide it. If product needs controlled spacing, accumulation or uphill travel, some form of power belongs in the line. We’ll tell you where gravity genuinely works.

Can you handle pallets and heavy loads?

Yes. Chain-driven live roller and heavy-gauge gravity handle pallets, drums and fixtures. The frame, roller gauge and bearings get specified to the load, not to a catalog default.

What is zero-pressure accumulation?

Zones that sense product and release it one at a time, so cases queue without pushing on each other. It protects product, reduces noise and makes pick and pack safer.

How quickly can roller conveyor arrive?

Standard gravity and powered roller models from the manufacturers we work with run on their catalog lead times; custom sections run on normal project lead times. Ask us what fits.

Can you mix drive styles in one line?

That’s normal. Gravity into a powered section into MDR accumulation ahead of a machine is a typical, cost-effective layout.

Can you modify our existing roller line?

Yes — new zones, transfers, guides and controls can usually be worked into an installed line during a planned window.
